What is the Youth World Cup?

The Youth World Cup Championship is an educational, character and leadership building environment for youth members worldwide. It is run by the American Quarter Horse Association. This competition is run in conjunction with educational training clinics giving the youth an opportunity to learn from the world's best trainers and to make friends from all corners of the world.

Who Can Attend?

In order to represent Australia, participants must be current members of both the Australian and American Quarter Horse Associations. In addition, they must meet the requirements and selection criteria as set out by the AQHA. Five team members attend the Cup through sponsorship whilst another 5 supporting team members can attend at their own expense. Each country can also send one coach and one team manager. These positions are filled according to how well the candidates fit the AQHA's selection criteria.

Can I Take my own Horse?

Competitors do not use their own horses. The host country supplies the required number of horses for the clinics and competition. These horses are then randomly allocated to the teams participating. During the 2002 event the Australian representatives used horses provided by the United States including some of the best American Quarter Horses.
