How to Complete an Authority for Transfer
When completing an Authority Form for the transfer of ownership of a registered Quarter Horse the following conditions must be met:
Carefully read the guide below on how to complete the Application for Transfer correctly.
Step 1: The buyer must either be a financial member or a new member of AQHA for the
transfer to be processed.
If the purchaser has never been a member of AQHA previously and has not previously owned a registered Quarter Horse they are entitled to a Promotional Membership for the remainder of the membership year (AQHA year starts 1 August) on the transfer of a horse. Once eligibility for the membership has been confirmed, the new owner will receive an introductory membership package which will need to be completed and returned prior to the transfer being completed.
Step 2: Complete the Official Transfer Certificate printed on the reverse side of the
original Certificate of Registration:
If the horse's Certificate of Registration does not have an Official Transfer
Certificate printed on the reverse side, download the Authority for Transfer
form here.
Fill in the form completely. It must also be signed by the last registered owner.

VENDOR AND PURCHASER(S) WARRANTY & INDEMNITY (Must be signed)
This section must be completed and signed before the transfer will be processed.
When filling out the Application for Transfer take care that all sections have been correctly answered as per the following guide:
