Registry Services - Registration
Procedure for Applying for American Registration
1. You will need to provide:
• American Registration Application (PDF - 2,811 KB)
• American Membership Application (if you are not already a member)
• Photocopy of Australian Registration Certificate showing you as the owner
• Credit Card details or Bank Cheque for payment.
Cheques should be in US Dollars and made
out to the American Quarter Horse Association
PLEASE NOTE
: Members wishing to register eligible Australian horses in America, can take advantage of the special International Affiliate rate of US$25.
2. Additionally, if there are Stud Book Registered Thoroughbreds in the pedigree of the horse being
registered, you must provide documentation showing the Stud Book registration of the horse. The
Australian Quarter Horse Association is not responsible for proving the eligibility of horses for AmQHA registration.
3. To complete the American Registration Application:
References to AQHA ID Numbers are American numbers not Australian. Leave blank anything
that is unknown.
• Tick "This foal was born south of the equator" (if this is true, otherwise tick relevant option).
• Enter the Australian Registered Name in the 1st name choice box.
You do not need to provide
other choices.
• Tick the colour (this must be the same as the Australian Registration Certificate).
• Choose the correct sex (must also match Australian Certificate).
• Enter the date of birth – NOTE: Month/Day/Year format.
• Enter the City and State if known.
• Enter the sire's Australian name and leave the number blank (this space is for the American
number).
Do the same for the dam. If you do not know the owner at the time of service leave
these
sections blank. We will fill the details in for you.
• At the "Dam's Owner at Time of Foaling" section, enter your details (owner of horse).
Fill in your
contact details too (must match owner's certificate).
• SIGN the application.
• Ignore the Breeder's Certificate section.
• On the back, tick "horse has no markings", "horse has markings" and/or "dorsal stripe".
• Read the instructions for drawing markings carefully as they are different to Australian
applications. You only need to outline white markings not colour them in.
• The written description at the bottom of the page can be copied from your Australian
Registration Certificate.
4. Send the Registration Application (and Membership Application where applicable) with all supporting
documentation and payment to Australian Quarter Horse Association, PO Box 979, Tamworth 2340.
IMPORTANT POINTS TO NOTE:
• It is the owner's responsibility to prove eligibility for registration– especially where Stud Book
Registered Thoroughbreds are involved.
• A copy of the Australian Registration Certificate must accompany the application.
• Payment must be sent with the application.
The application will be checked by the Australian QHA staff and forwarded to America. This enables us to
sort out any problems within Australia rather than between Australia and America. In some instances, you
could be contacted by the American QHA. Please ensure you provide current contact details and inform
them of any changes. This will ensure that all paperwork can be processed in a timely manner.
