Artificial Insemination Using Cooled or Frozen Semen - Stallion Owner's Guidelines
Artificial Insemination using Cooled/Frozen On Farm and/or Cooled/Frozen Transported Semen will be accepted by the AQHA subject to the following:
-
Any person or breeding establishment planning to breed a stallion artificially shall annually notify the AQHA on the appropriate form prior to employing such practice. This enrolment must be made 30 days prior to the first collection of semen each breeding season. Failure to enrol the stallion prior to the collection of semen will result in a $100 penalty fee being applied before breeding certificates can be processed.
-
Unless permitted by relevant State law, the person carrying out the collection procedure of any semen ideally must be either a registered Veterinarian or an Accredited Technician.
-
Stallion owners should be aware that the person carrying out the insemination procedure must ideally be either a registered Veterinarian or an Accredited Technician. AQHA understands that some members have undergone training and perform AI procedures in the normal course of running their stud enterprise.
-
The Stallion's DNA is on file with the Association.
The Stallion Return for each service must clearly indicate if the breeding was as a result of artificial insemination.
