How do I and the Australian Quarter Horse industry benefit from DNA Testing?

The AQHA is constantly dealing with issues where the stated parentage of horses proves to be incorrect and in fact the current limited use of DNA has highlighted many of these cases.

The major benefit to the Quarter Horse industry is the quality assurance of our product, the   Australian Quarter Horse and it will see registration papers endorsed with the words PARENTAGE VERIFIED. The confidence is two-fold in that sellers will be able to provide registration certificates that state that the horse is parentage verified. Buyers will more confidently purchase a horse, knowing that the advertised pedigree is correct.

Also, having a horse DNA typed and parentage verified prior to registration ensures that any potential parentage discrepancies can be identified and resolved before the horse is registered and sold.
