Becoming An Affiliate
There are many advantages in becoming and AQHA Affiliate. Following is valuable information that you will need to determine if your Club/Association is eligible to apply for Affiliation with the AQHA.

MEMBERSHIP YEAR
Our Affiliate membership year runs from 1st August to 31st July each year. The same time frame as a Financial Member of AQHA.
OUR COMMITMENT TO THE AFFILIATE
To aid and encourage, where possible, the Affiliate to reach its objectives.
To offer advice and help when requested.
To give approval in accordance with AQHA Rules & Regulations to run “Approved Shows”.
To supply the Affiliates with 10 issues of the AQHA magazine each year.
To advertise the Affiliates approved shows in the Magazine and the AQHA web site.
To always supply the Affiliate with an updated Rule Book.
To supply the Affiliate with promotional material for distribution at a Field Day/Promotional Event.
To offer space, where available, in the AQHA magazine at no charge, for reports from Affiliates.
To offer the Affiliate the opportunity to fulfill the Entitlement Program (as outlined below).
To supply a bi-monthly Affiliate newsletter.
ENTITLEMENT PROGRAM
- If the Affiliate conducts 3 or more “A” or “AA” shows (or combined “A” and “AA”) per show year then $500 credit will be placed on the Affiliates membership to be used for Show Approvals, purchase of merchandise, ribbons or trophies. The credit must be used within that show year.
- State Shows –
(a) If the State show offers prize money to the value of $3000 or more then the
Affiliate will receive a $2000 subsidy from the AQHA.
(b)
If the State show offers prize money up to and including $2999 then the Affiliate
will receive a $500 subsidy from the AQHA.
(c)
If the State show offers a minimum of $1500 prize money on the AmQHA events on
the program then the Affiliate will receive a $1000 subsidy from the AQHA.
(d)
If the State show offers no prize money or Jackpots on the AmQHA events on the
program then the Affiliate will receive a $400 subsidy from the AQHA.
(e)
If the State Show employs a USA Judge then the Affiliate will receive a $2000
subsidy from the AQHA.
(f)
If the State Show employs a Oceania Judge, who must judge AmQHA classes,
then the Affiliate will receive a $500 subsidy from the AQHA.
(g) If the State Show employs an Australian Judge then the Affiliate will receive a
$300 subsidy from the AQHA.
(i)
If the State show swabs a horse then the Affiliate will receive a subsidy of $100
from the AQHA towards vet fees (maximum of 3 test).
YOUR COMMITMENT
To adhere to the professional standards of the AQHA and to work to further it's goals and objectives.
To ensure the welfare of the Quarter Horse is paramount and that at all times the horse is treated with dignity, respect and compassion.
To conduct all affairs in relation to the Affiliate with integrity, sincerity and accuracy in an open and forthright manner.
To instill confidence among clients and the public in the Quarter horse industry, avoiding any action conducive to discrediting it or the membership of the Quarter Horse Industry.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
To co-operate with and aid in every way possible the promotion of AQHA.
To generate growth in your membership.
To provide approved AQHA events for AQHA members.
To encourage new memberships into your club and the AQHA.
To provide programs for beginners as well as the experienced horse person.
To maintain a Membership base of at least 15 full financial members for AQHA.
To forward a copy of all Newsletters to the AQHA on a regular basis.
To forward a copy of all Minutes of all Meetings to the AQHA on a regular basis.
To forward a copy of an Audited Profit & Loss report annually to AQHA.
Implement and forward annually, a thorough Risk Management & Hazard Identification Plan and if the venue named in the submitted Risk Management & Hazard Identification Plan is changed then a new Risk Management & Hazard Identification Plan will be required.
Forward a copy of your current Certificate of Incorporation and Constitution.
PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE
The AQHA Public Liability Insurance Policy is currently provided by Affinity insurance.
Affiliates are invoiced on a yearly basis for their insurance levy.
THE COST
The current annual Affiliate Membership fee is $176.00 and all Affiliates are required to pay the Public Liability Insurance Levy of $1025.85.
Payment will be required prior to your Affiliation being approved and you receiving the related benefits.
HOW TO APPLY
Simply forward to our office the New Affiliate Application, which is available from AQHA Forms and which details your 15 financial AQHA members, along with an Application for Membership, plus your Certificate of Incorporation and Constitution.
We will ask for feedback from your 3 closest AQHA Affiliates, asking if they have any objection to the Application.
This information is then forwarded to the Board of Directors, who assess each application individually on its merits.
